Investigators of Russia’s Investigative Committee summoned a number of people for questioning in investigation into slander and offence of State Duma deputies

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee carries on investigating a criminal case based on the consideration of an application by deputies of the State Duma of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Yelena Mizulina and Olga Batalina over signs of crimes under part 1 of article 128.1 and article 319 of the RF Criminal Code (slander, offence of a representative of the authority).

We remind that in the period between May and June 2013, the unknown people published in the Internet materials containing public offences of the State Duma deputies Yelena Mizulina and Olga Batalina as representatives of the authority. In addition, they spread knowingly false information connected with the professional activity of the deputy Mizulina.

The Russia’s Investigative Committee has called in for a questioning several people, including Nikolai Alekssev, who published knowingly false information about and offence of the deputies. In addition Yelena Mizulina and Olga Batalina have been found victims and have been questioned about the circumstances of the crimes committed against them.

At present search and investigating operations are underway to find the persons involved in organization of publication and all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
