Commission of Investigative Committee’s Central Office sent in Yakutia for practical assistance in investigation into rape of 4-year-old girl

The Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has taken a criminal case looking into the 8 September 2013 rape of a small girl in Yakutia under his personal control. On the order of Alexander Bastrykin a commission of the Investigative Committee’s Central Office has set off to Yakutsk for practical assistance in the probe.

Today the officers of the Central Office have studies the files of the case and held a personal reception of citizens, including the victim’s relatives. All their arguments two acquaintances of the detained suspect were involved in the crime will be carefully checked during the investigation. No doubt, the witnesses’ testimonies will be confronted with other evidence, but to restore the detailed picture of the crime, investigators have to get the results of expert examinations of biological traces seized from the crime scene on the day of the crime. Only then they can make certain conclusions.

At the same time the Central Office is going to check how well the procedural decisions made at the beginning of the investigation comply with the situation in Yakutsk. And if they find that the investigators made superficial job, they will be severely punished regardless of their past merits, positions and ranks.
