Russian Investigative Committee launches procedural check into wrongdoings against Russian girl adopted in American family

The Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has ordered a procedural check into a media report stating that a 13-year-old Russian girl adopted by the Barns family was illegally transferred to another family.

According to preliminary data, after mother’s death the 7-year-old girl was adopted by a family form Indiana, USA. At the age of 13 the girl was handed over to the Barns family in Texas. The new parents could not handle the psychological problems of the teenage girl and posted a notice in the Internet, offering to give her away. Later under the warrant they gave the girl to unknown people, who had to take care of the girl. There are reasons to suspect that the new foster parents were repeatedly reported to the police in connection with sexual abuse of their other adopted children.

During the procedural check the Russian Investigative Committee is going to request the American party all necessary documents and files in order to find all the circumstances of the incident. The Russian investigators are determined to undertake a full, impartial and unbiassed check into the said facts of Russian children’s right abuse. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
