Leadership of Investigative Committee orders check into information on abuse of veteran’s housing rights

On the order of Chairman of the Russia’s investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, a pre-investigating check has been launched in Volgograd Region in connection with the information on the abuse of housing rights of the Great Patriotic War veteran broadcast by one of the federal channels.

On September 21, 2013, the Postscrip TV program on TV Center channel showed a story about a 90-year-old woman, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, who has to live in a dangerous structure in Kotovsky district in Volgograd Region and the local authorities are doing nothing to change it.

At present checks are underway to identify the responsible. During the check investigators are going to qualify actions of officials responsible for implementation of the federal law and other legal regulations in the said field. The check has been commissioned to the Volgograd Region Investigations Directorate. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
