Investigators going to give tough qualification to actions of officials to blamed for death of two children in children’s home in Tatarstan

A criminal case, launched by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the republic of Tatarstan into signs of a crime under part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence) has been taken under control by the senior officials of the Investigative Committee.

A 10-year-old girl died in the morning of 30 September 2013 in Derbyshkinsky hospital for mentally challenged children in the village of Bolshiye Derbyshki. A 10-year-old boy died in the resuscitation department of the hospital. In addition, 22 residents were hospitalized with signs of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea.

At present investigating operations necessary to find all the circumstances of the incident are underway. Some of the teachers have already been questioned, the director of the facility and other staff members are being questioned about the circumstances of the incident. Forensic medical expert examinations have been fixed to find the cause of death of the two children. Documents relevant for the investigation have been seized from the children’s home.

During the probe investigators are going to find all the people, who have to provide health and life safety of mentally challenged children. They will also check how officials of supervising authorities discharged their official duties. In addition, they are going to give tough legal qualification not only to the actions of senior officials of the children’s home, but doctors, who provided children with medical aid.
