Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee holds personal reception of citizens in Moscow

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee held a personal reception of citizens in Moscow on 16 October 2013. Alexander Bastrykin received 34 citizens of Moscow city, Moscow, Vladimir, Kurgan, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Samara, Sverdlovsk regions, Stavropol and Altai territories, republics of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and Mari-El. During the reception, which started at 3 PM 16 October and lasted till 1:11 AM, 17 October, Mr. Bastrykin personally received 28 people. The First Vice-Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Vasily Piskaryov received 6 people.

The most of complaints addressed to Mr. Bastrykin during the personal reception concerned wrongdoings of police officers and procedural decisions made over criminal cases in proceedings at the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee. The citizens also complained about decisions made by other law enforcement bodies and court decisions. Some of the citizens complained about refusal to start criminal investigations.

Following the personal reception Mr. Bastrykin gave explicit orders to heads of a number of territorial investigating bodies. Progress of reviewing all accepted complaints and applications is under personal control of the Chairman.
