Criminal investigation launched against former deputy head of Moscow Main Office of Interior Ministry Vladimir Morozov

The Central Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against former deputy head of the Moscow Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry – head of the Main Investigations Police Directorate Vladimir Morozov. He is suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of office).

According to investigators, in 2013, Morozov while preparing for events marking the 50th anniversary of initial investigating bodies signed a letter addressed to general director of Moscow international house of music asking to assist by providing premises on lease. He pointed out that the lease contract had to be concluded with autonomous non-commercial organization the Center of Intellectual Property Group VIYUR. The investigators believe that Morozov was aware that the money laid by the organization to fund the celebration belonged to the persons under investigation into stealing of money on an especially massive scale investigated by Main Investigations Directorate of Moscow Main Office of the Interior Ministry. Later Morozov assisted in closing the case over the stealing.

The number of investigating and search operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crime. Morozov is going to be questioned in the next few days.
