In Novosibirsk Region head of Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Sciences charged with especially massive bribery put on trial

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Novosibirsk Region have finished investigating a criminal case against head of one of offices of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is charged with a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on an especially massive scale).

According to investigators, in 2013 the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Science concluded with a construction company a state contract worth 5 million 900 thousand rubles on capital repairs in its building. The head of the branch agreed with the CEO of the company on a bribe of 1 million 150 thousand rubles for faster acceptance and signing the acceptance certificates. The accused was detained in February 2014 after receiving a stipulated beforehand part of the bribe of 400 thousand rubles.

The investigator has gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
