Special commission sent in connection with incident at water park "Waterville" in St. Petersburg

Upon the instructions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, a special commission has been sent to the St. Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate. It is tasked to assess the actions or the lack of actions by senior officials of the St. Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in connection with the situation around the water park "Waterville", where accidents with children are getting terrifyingly regular. This refers to the mass poisoning of visitors (including minors) in 2008, the death of a 7-year-old boy in 2012 and yesterday's hospitalization of a child, who got under water without any life-saving equipment and was saved by a miracle.

The spinelessness of investigators in the first two criminal cases, whose responsibilities include the investigation of the causes and conditions that contributed to the commission of crimes, has become one of the most important factors of the reoccurrence of another accident in the water park.

Therefore, based upon the commission’s findings, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia intends to give a tough but objective assessment of the actions of his subordinates in St. Petersburg to ensure maximum security of life and health of children in future.
