In Novosibirsk region criminal investigation opened into safety breach at explosive facilities leading to deaths of workers

Novosibirsk Region investigative agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case into an offense under Part 3 of Article 217 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of safety rules at explosive facilities resulting in the death of two or more persons).

According to investigators, as a result of a safety breach, an unidentified substance exploded in the workshop No.8 of the Novosibirsk Artificial Fiber Plant on May 7, 2014. As a result a part of the building collapsed. Three workers were killed by the rubble, 9 people survived.

Currently, investigative operations aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and collecting evidence are underway. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
