In Moscow Region criminal case opened in arson during investigation into death of woman and her three children

During the investigation of a criminal case over murder of a woman and her three children the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region have launched an investigation into arson of the house of a resident of Khimki (part 2 of article 167 of the RF Penal Code – deliberate destruction of another’s property committed by means of arson and involving death of people). This case has been joined in a single proceeding with the one over the murder of the woman and her three children (paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105).

Today investigators and criminalists have carried out an additional examination of the crime scene. They have fixed necessary tests, are questioning witnesses and possible eye-witnesses. The investigators are carefully studying all possible causes and motives of such a cruel crime. The main theory is a domestic conflict. The investigators don’t see any mercenary motives behind the crimes as according to preliminary reports nothing was taken from the house.

As it was reported earlier, on 7 September 2014 around 8:30 PM, there was a fire in a cottage in the village of Terekhovo in Khimki. After the fire was out dead bodies of the 43-year-old owner of the house and her three children – 3-year-old twins (a boy and a girl) and 12-year old son were found under the debris. During the examination of the fire site and the bodies, the investigators found a synthetic wire tied around the woman’s neck in a double knot. A fragment of the wire and the documents of the residents were confiscated from the site.

Investigative and search operations are continued to identify persons involved in the crimes.
