Experienced criminalists of Investigative Committee Central Office sent to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area to investigate murder of woman and three children


On 31 October 2014, at around 3 PM, there was a report that dead bodies of a 34-year-old woman and three children aged 2, 3 and 6 with signs of violent death had been found in a holiday house of Chistye Prudy in the town of Surgut. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra have launched a criminal investigation into a crime under paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two or more people including children).

Criminalists of the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have been sent to Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area to provide practical assistance. At present there is a staff headed by the head of regional investigations directorate composed of the most experienced investigators and criminalists of the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Interior. Investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and identify people involved in it. The crime scene is being examined, the victims’ relatives and neighbors are being questioned. Investigator has assigned a forensic medical inquiry to find out the cause of death. There are several theories of the murder being checked currently. The investigation is taken under control at the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.
