Criminal investigation launched in kidnapping of China’s citizen in Moscow

The investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case against three men over a crime under part 2 of article 126 of the RF Penal Code (kidnapping), part 3 of article 163 (extortion).

According to investigators, in the afternoon of 3 December 2014, at least 6 men kidnapped a citizen of China from a market in the city of Moscow. They put the man in a car, took him to Noginsk District of Moscow Region and kept him in an abandoned boiler room. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 200 thousand US dollars from the victim’s wife. The woman reported the crime to the police who released the victim on 5 December 2014, and detained three of the suspects. They are two residents of Moscow Region aged 22 and 40 and a 25-year-old citizen of China.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The three detainees were placed in custody and three other perpetrators are being identified. The investigation is ongoing.
