Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee based in Moscow has finished investigating a criminal case against Andrey Sakharov. He is charged with a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (attempted intermediacy in bribery).

According to investigators in the period between December 2012 and July 2013 mayor of Yaroslavl Yevgeny Urlashov, his deputy Dmitry Donskov, advisor Alexey Lopatin and director of municipal state-controlled institution Municipal Housing and Communal Purchases Agency of Yaroslavl mayor’s office Maxim Poykalaynen demanded 18 million rubles from CEO of a company for execution of a municipal contract on cleaning of town’s streets and cities in the second half of 2013. In case the CEO refused to pay a bribe the accomplices threatened to not to pay for the execution of the contract. The middleman Andrey Zakharov, who received 14 million rubles to pass it to Urlashov, Donskov, Lopatin and Poykalaynen was detained on 2 July 2013.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case against Zakharov with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
