In Moscow school shooter institutionalized

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to make a decision with regards to a student of school No 263 in Moscow, found guilty of crimes under paragraphs “a”, “b” and “j” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 30 and paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 2 of article 105 of the Russina Penal Code (murder of two, murder of a person connected with their professional activity, attempted murder).

The court and investigators found that on 3 February 2014, the student brought a gun at school. He shot dead a Geography teacher Andrey Kirillov, 29. When a security officer heard the shots, he called the police immediately. When the police entered the school, the teenager opened fire at them and wounded senior sergeant Vladimir Lrokhin and shot dead warrant officer Sergey Bushuyev.

According to the conclusion of a forensic psychiatric evaluation the teenager suffers from a chronic mental disorder making him unable to understand the danger his actions pose to people or to control his behavior while acting.

The court ruled to confine the teenager in a specialized psychiatric clinic with intensive oversight. The said clinic admits persons who pose special threat for themselves and public and require constant and intense observation. Persons placed in such a clinic are guarded to eliminate any chance of their committing other dangerous acts.
