In Tver Region Moscow resident charged with a series of sex crimes against children

The Tver Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged Valery Artyomenko, 59 with a crime under paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 132 of the RF Penal Code (sexual abuse of a person under 14 years of age).

He was held on 20 February 2015, as a result of investigative and search operations efficiently planned by investigators and criminalists and carried out by the police.

The investigators have revealed that in November 2014, a USB flash drive containing pictures and videos of Artyomenko with underage girls was found in a flat in the town of Konakovo, Tver Region. The content of the drive suggests that the man had repeatedly committed the crimes in different regions of Russia and in Belorussia. In the period between 2006 and 2010, Artyomenko met women who had underage children and took them and their children to a rented house in the village of Tarasovka, Moscow Region where he sexually abused the children and shot it on a camera. Over the past several years Artyomenko has been using fake passports and driven different cars.

Following a request of investigators a court has ruled to place Artyomenko in custody.

Investigative and other activities are underway to gather and consolidate the evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
