The Altai Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 2 of article 127 of the RF Penal Code (illegal confinement of knowingly underage persons).

According to investigators, in the afternoon of 3 March 2015, employees of Magnit supermarket in the town of Barnaul accused two 12-year-old girls of stealing goods and kept them for a long time in the basement before their parents arrived.

At present the investigators are questioning the girls and their parents, as well as employees of the supermarket. Other investigative activities are underway. The investigation is ongoing.
