In Stavropol Territory man arrested on charges of 2009 robbery and murder of Great Patriotic War veteran

The Stavropol Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case opened over crimes under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 162 of the RF Penal Code (robbery) and paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 (murder).

On 25 November 2009, a dead body of an 84-year-old man, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, was found in his flat in the city of Kislovodsk with tied up hands and a plastic bag on the head tied round with a piece of telephone wire.

Persons involved in the crime were identified. They are the victim’s stepdaughter Natalia Chudintsova, a friend of hers Yelena Ibakova and an acquaintance of theirs Martin Antonyan.

According to investigators, Chudintsova induced Ibakova and Antonyan to attack and rob her stepfather. To do that the woman draw a flat layout plan and told them where the elderly man kept his money. Chudintsova told her accomplice and Antonyan when the veteran stayed alone in the flat. The two introduced themselves as workers of housing and communal services, got into the flat and attacked the elderly man. Antonyan, however, violated their plan and strangled the victim with a plastic bag. They stole 27 thousand rubles and fled the scene.

In April 2010, Chudintsova and Ibakova were found guilty of organization and execution of a robbery and sentenced to 8 and 7.5 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony. Their accomplice Antonyan was wanted and the case against him was severed in a separate proceeding.

At present Antonyan’s whereabouts have been revealed due to cooperation between the investigator and operatives and by now he has been delivered for investigative activities. The investigation is ongoing.
