Investigation finished against six defendants accused of Falcon crash in Vnukovo airport 21 October 2014

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished preliminary investigation in a criminal case over the crash of a France’s Falcon jet at Vnukovo airport killing three crew members and a passenger - Total CEO Christophe de Margerie. Charges of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for operation and traffic of an aircraft involving death of two or more people by negligence) were pressed against Vnukovo control tower operator Roman Dunayev, flight controller Alexander Kruglov, trainee flight controller Svetlana Krivsun, taxiing controller Nadezhda Arkhipova, chief of shift of airdrome operation department Vladimir Ledenev and driver of a snow plow Vladimir Martynenko.

Before the preliminary investigation was finished Martynenko and his lawyers requested investigators to conclude a pretrial cooperation deal, however they were denied the request due to the lack of legal reasons for that.

At present all 6 of the accused and their 11 lawyers are reading through the files of the case. After they have finished the case will be forwarded for the indictment to be approved and further to court to be tried on the merits.

In addition investigation is ongoing against Vnukovo shift director Sergey Kosik, director of Moscow office of Automated Air Traffic Control Center Vladimir Uzhakov and his deputy Alexander Povaly accused of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code.
