In Moscow Region local woman suspected of reckless homicide of six-month-old baby

Moscow Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation against a 28-year-old local resident. She is suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide).

According to investigators, on 30 March 2015, the mother of a six-month-old boy asked a friend of hers to look after her baby, who was treated in a therapeutic department of Zaraysk Central District Hospital with bronchitis. While in the ward, not foreseeing any harm, the woman wanted to boil some water in an electric kettle and put it on a metallic railing of the bed the baby was lying in and went on to her own business. When the water started boiling in the kettle, it tipped over on the baby and scalded him. The boy was taken to a special department of Lyubertsy District Hospital with a second-degree scald and died there a few days later.

At present necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
