In Sverdlovsk Region two local residents found guilty of stealing budget funds allocated for repairing kindergartens

A court has recognized the evidence presented by Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a 39-year-old former head of Verkhnyaya Tura town administration and 43-year-old former head of housing and utility administration of Verkhnyaya Tura town administration. Depending on the role of each they were found guilty of crimes under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on a very large scale) and article 285 (abuse of power).

The court and investigators have revealed that in the period between October 2012 and March 2013 the defendants by deceit and using their positions stole over 1 million rubles allocated from the regional budget to repairing kindergartens in the villages of Deryabino and Kordyukovo, Verkhnyaya Tura District and one holiday center.

The court gave the former head of town administration a suspended sentence of 5.5 years and banned him from occupying certain positions for 3 years, the former head of housing and utility administration – a suspended sentence of 5 years and banned him from taking certain positions for the period of 3 years. Each of the defendants will have to pay a fine of 700 thousand rubles.
