Bryansk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against former head of the regional state tariff regulation department in a crime under part 2 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of power by a person occupying a state position in a federal subject). The reason for the investigation was records provided by the Federal Security Service and prosecutor’s office.

According to investigators, in December 2013 and November 2014 the suspect acted out of mercenary motives and gave orders to set unreasonably high tariffs on power supplying services provided by two organizations actually controlled by one of relatives. As a result of illegal tariffs the interregional power grid company transferred to the two organizations over 3 million rubles.

At present necessary investigative operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
