In Rostov Region investigation opened against former judge involved in car crash injuring pedestrians

The Investigative Committee Chairman has opened a criminal investigation against retired judge of Rostov Region Court Valery Budayev. He is suspected of a crime under part 2 of article 264 of the RF Penal Code (drunk driving entailing grievous bodily harm).

According to investigators, on 27 September 2014, Budayev beingdrunk was driving his Toyota Highlander. He drove out from a parking lot near house No 101 in Krepostnoy lane in the city of Rostov-on-Don and started moving in the direction of M. Gorky street to Pushkinskaya street. He then lost control, collided with two cars parked at the roadside and drove into a kiosk with three people inside. The kiosk shifted forward from the hit, the people inside hit it and fell on the ground suffering different injuries. According to the results of a forensic medical inquiry, one of the victims suffered grievous bodily harm dangerous for the life.

The investigation was charged to the Investigations Directorate for Rostov Region.
