In Chuvashia investigation launched in hospitalization of seven students of children’s sports school

About 11:40 AM, 8 June 2015, seven teenagers aged between 11 and 15 were taken to the infectious disease ward of a hospital in Novocheboksarsk with a preliminary diagnosis of acute enteric infection. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Chuvashia have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 236 of the RF Penal Code (violation of sanitation and epidemiological rules).

According to investigators, on 3 June 2015, a group of 20 teenage students of a sports school of Naro-Fominsk, Moscow Region, together with their coach arrived at a special sports school in the town of Novocheboksarsk for training until 13 June 2015. They stayed at the school hotel. By morning of 8 June 2015 seven teenagers: 5 boys and 2 girls felt unwell and were taken to hospital.

By now the teenagers have made necessary tests. The specialists have taken samples of food and water at the sports school to check whether there are any causative agents and sent them to run chemical tests. The diagnosis of the teenagers is being specified. The witnesses and the victims are being questioned. A number of investigating operations is underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident, including the reasons why they felt unwell. By the present time all the teenagers are feeling well.

The investigation is kept under special control of the leadership of the investigations directorate and is ongoing.
