In Moscow CEO of large construction company suspected of tax crime

Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against CEO of ZAO SU-155 Alexander Meshcheryakov suspected of a crime under part 2 of article 199.1 of the RF Penal Code - failure to act as a tax agent.

According to investigators, Meshcheryakov failed to act as a tax agent when did not transferred to the state budget over 210.5 million rubles of income tax for the period 2012-2013. According to investigators, the said money he spent on his personal needs – to give loans to organizations under his control, to buy promissory notes and other securities wishing to consolidate his status, business reputation, maintain his authority among his staff and contractors by financing controlled organizations and using the money meant for paying taxes to ensure current activity of the company.

The crime was revealed by officials of the Main Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior together with Moscow Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Office.

At present searches are underway in the office of SU-155. The investigators are confiscating documents and objects relevant for the case. Following the searches the investigators will decide on the charges. In addition, the sum of damage will be specified and it is possible that it will be much bigger.

At the same time other investigative and search operations are underway to gather the evidence, reveal other crimes and identify persons involved in tax crimes. The investigation is ongoing.
