In Omsk Region investigation launched in unsafe services resulted in death of 16 in car accident


On 24 June 2015, at 6 PM, local time, a traffic accident happened on Syropyatsky highway in the suburbs of Omsk. According to preliminary information 16 people were killed in the accident, and 9 more passengers were injured. Omsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet life and health safety standards and entailed death of two or more people).

According to investigators, the bus owned by a passenger enterprise and rented by a poultry factory was going from the village of Rostovka, Omsk Region in the direction of the village of Bogoslovka. The bus was carrying 22 workers of the poultry factory and a driver. Near the 20th km the bus took the wrong side of the road and collided with a KAMAZ-5410 with a driver and a passenger inside. In addition the truck had a semi-trailer loaded with bricks. According to preliminary data 16 people were killed in the accident and 9 more were injured. All the injured were taken to hospitals.

At present, investigators have set out to the accident scene to carry out investigative operations, seize necessary documents and find out all the circumstances of the crime and identify responsible persons who then will be remanded in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
