Penza Region Investigations Directorate investigates unsafe transportation services following traffic accident in Mordovia involving children

The Penza Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have accepted for further investigation a case opened by the Mordovia Investigations Directorate in a crime under part 1 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet health or life safety standards).

This was done to ensure that the preliminary investigation is impartial, full and its terms are met as most of the witnesses and victims live in Penza Region.

We remind that on 30 May 2015, a minibus carrying school children from Kuznetsk, Penza District got in a traffic accident in Ruzayevka District, Mordovia.

According to investigators, against the current law, the bus with children was travelling at nighttime. It was revealed that the accident happened about 2 AM. The bus Volkswagen Crafter was carrying children from an excursion from the city of Nizhny Novgorod to the town of Kuznetsk, Penza Region. There were 15 children aged 14 and an adult aboard the bus. The bus collided with a Chevrolet Lanos car 3 km from the town of Ruzayevka. 7 teenagers and the adult were taken to Ruzayevka Inter-district Hospital. Nobody sustained serious injuries.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
