Investigation filed in unsafe services following traffic accident killing 11 in Krasnoyarsk Territory

The Krasnoyarsk Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (provision of services that do not meet life and health safety standards) following a traffic accident involving a bus that took place on the motorway in Kozulka District.

According to preliminary data, on 22 July 2015, a bus travelling from Krasnoyarsk to Sharypovo collided with a truck on the 701st km of the M-53 motorway. The truck burned down. Its driver and passenger were killed in the accident. The bus driver and 8 passengers also died bringing the number of victims to 11.

It has been revealed that the bus belongs to the Krasnoyarsk group of companies OAO Avtokolonna 1967. The documents of interest to investigators have been confiscated from the company.

It is known that at the moment of the accident there were 47 people aboard the bus, including a driver and 46 passengers. 3 of the passengers were children. The rest of the passengers were taken to hospitals in Achinsk and Krasnoyarsk.

At present investigating and other procedural operations are underway to find out all circumstances of the accident.

Besides, there is another investigation ongoing against the same company over unsafe services. On 8 July 2015, unidentified staffers of Avtokolonna 1967 while providing paid transportation services, failed to ensure their safety and let a Hyundai bus travel from the town of Kyzyl, Tuva to Krasnoyarsk. In the morning of 9 July, the bus took the wrong side of the road and collided with a Mercedes Bens minibus killing its 10 passengers and the driver. During the accident the Hyundai bus with 25 people inside turned over. 7 of its passengers including three children aged under 6 were injured.

Both investigations are ongoing.
