Probe launched in Saint-Petersburg in use of forged documentary stamps

The Saint-Petersburg investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 4 of article 327.1 of the RF Penal Code (manufacture, sale or use of counterfeit documentary stamps or special stamps).

According to investigators, an unidentified person purchased counterfeit tobacco products in order to stick forged federal special stamps on them and sell in a shop in Yuri Gagarin street. On 5 August 2015, the counterfeit tobacco products were seized during the investigation of the crime scene.

On 26 August 2015, over 400 boxes of tobacco products were found and seized during a search.

At present investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and identify those guilty of it. The investigation is ongoing.
