The Irkutsk Region Investigations Directorate has accepted for investigation a criminal case opened in a crime under part 1 of article 116 of the RF Penal Code (battery) after a child with disability was beaten by a teacher in Irkutsk children’s home No 1.

According to investigators, on 20 September 2015, the teacher of the facility hit the 10-year-old boy several times on the back. It has been revealed that the senior officials of the facility knew about it. During the probe the investigators are going to classify actions (or omission) of officials of the facility as a crime under article 293 of the RF Penal Code (negligence).

The investigation is carried out in close cooperation with the juvenile department of the Irkutsk Region Main Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior.

At present, necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
