The Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee is investigating a criminal case opened in a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (attempted fraud).

According to investigators, in 2014, members of an organized criminal group attempted a fraud by means of illegal compensation for the VAT while exporting over 180 million rubles worth of metal.

At present investigators together with officials of the Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Office of the Federal Security Service are carrying out investigative operations and searches in Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Saransk and Samara. The investigation is ongoing.
