The investigating bodies of the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation against two operative agents of the crime detection office of the Perovo district Department of the Russian Ministry of the Interior. They are charged with a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (attempted fraud).

According to investigators, between September and October 2015, two police officers, having learned that an acquaintance of theirs was being checked by the police on having been involved in a crime, offered him to assist with handling the problem. They evaluated their services at 3 million rubles. After having received the money, they were going to spend them as they wanted.

Following the request of investigators, a court has ruled to remand the accused in custody pending trial. The investigation is ongoing.
