Main version of house collapse in Khabarovsk Territory – gas explosion

The Khabarovsk Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the Russia’s Investigative Committee (reckless homicide of two or more people).

According to investigators, on 30 October 2015, at 1 AM, an explosion happened in a three-floor block of flats in Geologogv street in the village of Korfovsky.

The house had 27 flats with 51 tenants registered in them. The third section of the house collapsed completely, killing 5 people (a 27-year-old woman, her daughter aged under a year, a 73-year-old woman and two men aged 52 and 65). In addition, 9 people were injured, 3 of them were taken to hospitals.

Employees of the regional Investigative Committee took off for the scene at once, simultaneously with removing debris, the investigators are examining the scene looking for the epicenter of the explosion. They are considering gas explosion as one of the main versions.

The victims and witnesses are being questioned (information has been got from 34 witnesses so far). Forensic medical inquiries have been assigned. It is too early to speak about certain causes of the incident, so the investigators are looking at several versions. The investigation is ongoing.
