Suspect of robbery-related rape of blind girl detained in Moscow

The investigating bodies of the Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in crimes under part 1 of article 131 (rape), paragraph “d” of part 2 of article 161 of the RF Penal Code (robbery using force).

At night of 28 October 2015, an unidentified man raped and brutally beat a 27-year-old blind woman near a block of flats in Plenarnaya street in Moscow. After that he stole her cell phone and money. Later local residents saw the girl and called an ambulance at once. The girl was delivered at hospital in grave condition.

Thanks to well-planned investigative and search operations a suspect has been identified and held in short time. The man has already admitted his guilt. He is now being checked on having been involved in other similar crimes committed in the city. The investigators are going to request man’s arrest soon.

The Investigative Committee has always responded toughly to the violations of rights of people with disabilities and in this case we are taking all measures to not only make the guilty man answer for his crime, but to provide rehabilitating assistance to the victim.
