Probe into attempted murder of two and illegal circulation of firearms launched during investigation in murder of karate coach in Saratov

The Saratov Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in crimes under part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a” and “f” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (attempted murder of two by generally dangerous means) and part 1 of article 222 (purchase, transfer, storage of firearms and ammunition) during the investigation opened earlier in the murder of a karate coach (paragraph “f” of part 2 of article 105).

A 45-year-old local resident has been held on suspicion of the crime and is now in a detention center.

According to investigators, in the evening of 30 November 2015, a 45-year-old father of one of the trainees who had a conflict with her coach entered the gymnasium and opened fire from a PM gun which he had illegally bought and kept, and then fled the scene. The coach was killed on the spot. Besides, the man wounded two victim’s relatives. The two men survived thanks to timely rendered medical aid. They are now in a hospital.

The investigators have asked a court to remand the suspect in custody pending trial. Investigative operations to gather and consolidate the evidence are underway.
