Investigative Committee receives request of State Duma deputy to give information on the data spread in media

In connection with the appeal to the Russia’s Investigative committee of deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Iosif Kobzon requesting to give information about the results of a check into information spread by the media that the death of director of Verkhneklensk River Steamship Company N.I. Palenny was of criminal nature, we inform:

In March and April 2012, the major investigations office of the Irkutsk Region Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee carried out a procedural check following appeals of deputies of the State Duma Ruslan Gostev and Nikolai Arefyev as they had received appeals from citizens A.P. Shakhmatov and M.M. Toropov.

Shakhmatov’s appeal contained arguments that the death of Verkhneklensk River Steamship Company N.I. Palenny was a criminal one, the property of the company was stolen and OAO Tyret Salt Mine was taken over.

Following the results of the check, on 13 April 2012, the investigation was denied due to lack of corpus delicti.

This material was studied by the senior officials of the regional directorate and central office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee as a procedural control measure in 2012 and no reasons to abolish this decision were found.
