In connection with the information spread in the media about death of one of defendants in the case against Alexander Khoroshavin, I have to explain the following: The Russia’s Investigative Committee charged Nikolai Kran with a crime under article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribery). During the investigation the accused concluded a cooperation deal and testified against former governor of Sakhalin Region Alexander Khoroshavin. Investigators knew that Kran suffered from a serious and incurable disease, this is why he was put under house arrest.
I would like to point out that Kran gave the evidence in present of his lawyer, which was documented by the investigators in strict compliance with the criminal procedure legislation, so the death of the accused will not affect further progress of the investigation against Khoroshavin.
