Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, took part in celebration in honour of Alexander Yakovlevich Sukharev, President of the All-Russian Public Organization “Outstanding Commanders and Naval Commanders of the Fatherland”; member of the Public Council of the Investigative Committee of Russia; adviser to the Prosecutor General of Russia; acting State Law Councillor. Today, this legendary person celebrates his 95th anniversary.
The Central House of the Russian Army of Mikhail Frunze, where the celebration was held, was also attended by Nikolay Ovsienko, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in Central Federal District; Yury Ponomarev, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation; Makhmut Gareev, Chairman of the Academy of Military Sciences, Army General; Ivan Shilov, Chairman of the Russian Council of Law-Enforcement and Interior-Forces Veterans; as well as relatives of the hero of the day and other guests of honour.
When addressing Alexander Yakovlevich, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia noted that his whole life is the best example of strength of mind and sincere service to the Fatherland: “He is not used to giving in to life challenges, a determined and courageous person. Together with the country, you went through plenty of hardships, the years of the Great Patriotic War, and never betrayed your principles. You have many years of service in justice and prosecution, but you are still at the forefront - contributing to the strengthening of law and order, transferring invaluable experience and knowledge to young professionals of the investigative and prosecutor offices.”
Chairman of the Committee made specific mention of Alexander Yakovlevich’s contribution to development of the very young generation of future officers, expressing words of gratitude for the veteran’s personal commitment to educating students in cadet schools and academies of the Investigative Committee of Russia, as well as assisting young investigators who also need tutoring from experienced comrades. “The most profound respect and support should be given to your fiery desire to preserve the best officer traditions and the true history of feats of outstanding Russian military leaders, the testimonies of our heroic chronicle, as well as to share them with our youth,” Alexander Bastrykin added. The celebration went on with sincere and warm speeches of the guests and a concert of Soviet songs and musical performances in honour of the hero of the day. In his turn, Alexander Yakovlevich thanked Alexander Bastrykin for his support and attention to all veterans. He also expressed confidence in the efficiency of the structure headed by Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, which should remain independent.
Alexander Sukharev also received a state award on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, the Order of Alexander Nevsky, which Alexander Bastrykin presented to him today, wishing him good health and long life.
