Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia takes part in Constituent Assembly of Russian Cossack Society

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin took part in Constituent Assembly of Russian Cossack Society which took place in Church Council Hall of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

The Chairman of Presidential Council for Cossack Community Alexander Beglov and representatives of clergy and cossack community from most regions of Russian Federation also took part in the event. The Assembly was attended by delegates from eleven cossack military societies, cossacks from Crimea and Sevastopol, representatives of Cossack Youth Unity, total more than 700 participants.

The Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia supported this landmark event of the recent history of Russian Cossack community. As a member of Presidential Council for Cossack Community, Alexander Bastrykin shares views of representatives of the cossack community, supports their principles of bringing up youth and their commitment to preserving their unique cultural and historical heritage.

The long-overdue decision to create the Russian Cossack Society that will coordinate work of cossacks throughout the country provided a cause to gather the Assembly. This is a significant result of implementation of Strategy of development of cossack-related government policies in Russia up to 2020 approved by the President of the Russian Federation in 2012.

In accordance with cossack traditions the Constituent Assembly was opened by a solemn prayer. During the Assembly the participants adopted a Charter of the Cossack Society, formed its bodies and adopted the previously designed heraldic symbols: an emblem, a chevron and a flag.

The participants of the event noted that it was a long way to form a united society that will preserve the unique culture of Russian Cossack community and pass it to the future generations.

The Russian Cossack Society will make a significant contribution to moral education of the young generation that will soon become a pillar of society and the State.
