Alexander Bastrykin meets senior media relations assistants of several chiefs of regional Investigations Directorates

Today the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has held a meeting with senior assistants to chiefs of several regional Investigations Directorates arrived for advanced training classes. The training of staff responsible for interaction with the media was held at the Moscow Academy of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

A specialized training program has been prepared for the course participants, aimed at improving the coverage of the Investigative Committee’s activities, as well as improving their professional level.

This list of listeners included representatives of the East Siberian Transport Investigative Directorate, Investigative Directorates of the Republics of North Ossetia-Alania, Bashkortostan, Tyva, Mordovia, Kursk, Smolensk, Tula, Samara, Penza, Kirov, Pskov, Irkutsk, Tyumen Regions, Stavropol and Primorsky Territories.

During the meeting, the Chairman addressed the audience and outlined the priority areas of activities of the employees of the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia, who interacted with the media. In particular, he drew attention to the need to be informed not only about the procedural activities of investigators and forensic officers but also about patriotic and social activities. “I am sure you know that next year is declared the Year of Memory and Glory to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory. The Investigative Committee is now actively involved in the preparation and holding of events commemorating the Great Victory. The official start of the All-Russian Youth Patriotic Good Deeds Relay devoted to this event has already been given. We named this campaign with a purpose in mind: the meaning of the baton is to help the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the families of war veterans who died and the young heroes of the Fatherland. In many regions extensive work has been done to provide patronage to homes for the elderly and people with disabilities, work in search units,” Alexander Bastrykin stressed, noting also the importance of involving young people in such events.

Addressing senior assistants for media relations, the Chairman stressed that their main task was to correctly and accessibly convey the position of the Investigative Committee of Russia, to intelligently inform citizens not only about high-profile criminal cases but also, what is especially important today, to tell them about preventive measures taken by the Investigative Committee.

Alexander Bastrykin noted that in modern realities the mass media played an important role in citizens’ lives. Sometimes, some blatant facts become known only when they were published in the media. He pointed out that there was a need to respond and to look at all the circumstances of specific cases because each issue had people’s fates behind it.

For example, over the past three years, senior media relations assistants have detected more than 5,000 stories requiring a response from the investigative authorities. In reference to this, he once again requested the attending staff members to convey the importance of this work.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee once again drew the attention of those present to the importance of the work carried out by the employees to increase the level of public trust in law enforcement agencies, to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens of Russia, to strengthen the spiritual foundations of serving the Fatherland and professional activities of employees for the benefit of society, the development of their spiritual and moral potential.

Alexander Bastrykin expressed his confidence that the knowledge gained would help the employees to do their job with a high level of quality. The Chairman expressed his gratitude to a number of senior assistants (assistants) for the diligent performance of their duties and efficient service and awarded honorary certificates and medals “For Diligence in Service” of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
