Chairman of the IC of Russia Takes Part in Joint Meeting of National Antiterrorist Committee and Federal Operational Headquarters

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin took part in a joint meeting of the National Antiterrorist Committee and the Federal Operational Headquarters, which was held in a video conference mode and chaired by Chairman of the NAC, Director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov. It was also attended by members of the NAC and FOH, plenipotentiary representatives of the President of the Russian Federation in federal districts, heads of federal executive authorities, as well as by representatives of other law enforcement agencies and special services. Issues of ensuring the readiness of educational organizations to act amid the threat of terrorism-related crimes were considered during the meeting, and measures to improve the effectiveness of this work were identified.

In his speech, A. V. Bortnikov noted that several terrorism-related crimes had recently been prevented at educational institutions; some of the crimes were prepared by members of international terrorist organizations cells in Moscow, Crimea, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol Krai, and Tver Oblast. Destructive ideology supporters were involved in organizing most of them. The measures aimed at ensuring the anti-terrorist protection of educational organization that should be taken in this situation by the authorities and anti-terrorist commissions were also outlined.

In accordance with the legally established jurisdiction and with operational support of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia investigate criminal cases on terrorism-related crimes. The department pays special attention to terrorism prevention among the younger generation through fostering patriotism and respect for moral values and traditions.

Within the framework of the event, additional measures aimed at neutralizing terrorism-related threats and improving the anti-terrorist protection of socially significant facilities, primarily those associated education, were designed.
