The Chairman of the Investigative Committee Takes Part in a Meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Summarizing the 2021 Performance

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, took part in a video conference meeting of the board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, which summed up the 2021 performance of the Ministry and set the 2022 priority areas.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, spoke at the board meeting and noted that over the past three decades the Ministry had become a well-coordinated, mobile, well-equipped organization responsible for protecting our citizens from emergencies, for fires prevention and extinguishing, for the civil defense system development. The head of state stressed the importance of developing fire and rescue units, increasing their mobility, readiness for immediate response to natural and man-made threats. The President of the Russian Federation expressed his confidence that officers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations would continue to act professionally and flawlessly in addressing the objectives outlined today and other tasks facing the Ministry.

In his speech, Alexander Petrovich Chupriyan, the acting Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, summed up the 2021 performance and outlined the 2022 priority tasks for protecting the population and territories, economic facilities and infrastructure from emergencies.

In the exercise of their powers, the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee effectively cooperate with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in investigating crimes related to emergencies and man-made incidents, and searching for missing people. The unity of the positions of the government agencies in activities aimed at improving law enforcement, introducing advanced technologies, and being ready to interact to achieve the set objectives contributes to ensuring the safety and security of the citizens of the country, timely and adequate response to any emergency.

The event participants highly appreciated the selfless service of the officers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, whose list of achievements includes a huge number of successful search-and-rescue operations, hundreds of humanitarian missions, millions of thanks, and – most importantly – saved lives.
