June 9 is the birthday of the great tsar-reformer and founder of the first domestic preliminary investigation bodies. Officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia honor and remember history; Today, during a working trip to St. Petersburg, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation launched the relay race “Investigative Offices of Peter I - Vivat!”, The relay race was organized at the initiative of the department in memory of the successful judicial reform of Peter I and the “Major’s” Investigative Offices.

The event was also attended by Mr. A.V. Klaus - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Hero of Russia Mr. S.V. Petrov – the Head of the Directoratet of educational work of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Heads of Investigative Bodies and educational organizations of St. Petersburg and Leningradskaya Oblast, the  members of the Council of Young Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and the Members of the Investigative Departments of the Russian Federation constituent entities.

The participants of the event gathered at the Naryshkinsky bastion of the Peter and Peter-Paul Fortress, from where cannon shot has traditionally sounded at exactly noon - and thus the Relay race was launched.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin called on investigators, students and cadets of educational institutions of the Russian Investigative Committee to continue the best traditions of the Peter I and Soviet investigation, namely: to implement the principles of justice, observe the interests of the state, fight corruption and embezzlement of public funds and strengthen Russian statehood.

“Today, the investigators of the Investigative Committee are performing their duty on the territory of Donbass during a special military operation, they document and investigate the crimes of nationalists and honorably fulfill their professional duty,” the Head of the Directorate said.

Then the military band performed the "March of the Preobrazhensky Regiment" at the commandant's pier, and a platoon of drummers from the St. Petersburg State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia performed a creative play. A theatrical performance was also organized for the participants, and the students of the Boarding School of the Russian Investigative Committee performed a vocal and choreographic play to the composition “The Ball of Russia”.

Then, the facade plates were handed over to the members of the investigative units in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation about the operating investigative offices in the Petrine era, as a reminder that the "major's" investigative offices of Peter I once functioned in those regions: Tyumen, Vladimir, Vologda, Tomsk, Tambov, Smolensk , Moscow, Novgorod, Sverdlovsk, Tula, Astrakhan, Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Pskov, Voronezh, Leningrad regions, Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, Tatarstan, Sakha (Yakutia), Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region. The facade plaques will be solemnly placed on the walls of the buildings of the investigation departments of the Russian Investigative Committee as a tribute to the memory of the first investigators of Russia, our great history, and the great reformer.

Concluding the solemn part, the Head of the Investigative Committee of Russia awarded a number of investigators - members of the Council of Young Investigators, and members of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg for their high contribution to the historical memory preservation and perpetuation.

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin laid flowers at the gravestone of Peter the Great in the Petropavlovskiy Cathedral and at the grave of Lieutenant General S.L. Ignatiev - a member of the investigative commissions of the Petrine era, the chief commandant of St. Petersburg at the Commandant's cemetery, located near the walls of the cathedral.
