The Chairman of the Investigative Committee takes part in conference meeting for judicial activity in new regions of Russia

Mr. Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, took part in a video conference meeting, organized at the All-Russian State University of Justice (RLA of the Ministry of Justice of Russia); it was devoted to the additional professional program "Judicial system, Legal Proceedings and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Russian Federation." Such a program has been developed specifically for judges from regions that have recently become part of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by judges from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. The plenary session was also attended by Mr. Evgeny Leonidovich Zabarchuk, First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation.

Ms. Olga Ivanovna Aleksandrova, Rector of the educational institution, opened the meeting. Addressing the participants with a welcoming speech, she noted that a transitional period had been established in order to integrate the new subjects of the Russian Federation into the legal system and the system of public authorities; this was done on the basis of the will of citizens living in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, in Zaporozhye and Kherson oblasts, and in accordance with the Federal Constitutional Laws. The above mentioned transformations involve a whole range of measures in the field of professional re-training and advanced training. The All-Russian State University of Justice (RLA of the Ministry of Justice of Russia) is the main educational platform for the Justice Authorities, and it has broad competencies in the major oriented area, as well as a unique experience in upgrading the skills of specialists during the process of integrating the Republic of Crimea into the Unified Federal System. "Dear colleagues, I express hope for the effectiveness of the educational process and our further fruitful cooperation," concluded Ms. Olga Ivanovna.

Mr. A.I. Bastrykin stressed that nowadays one of the main tasks of the Russian Investigative Committee is to conduct investigations of crimes committed by the Kiev Regime. The norms of International Humanitarian Law give the Russian Federation grounds to carry out the investigations, since States are obliged to search for and prosecute those who commit war crimes. In this regard, Mr. Alexander Ivanovich expressed his hope for the prompt establishment of a judicial system in the new regions of the Russian Federation. "We must put our best efforts to make this system work as soon as possible," he said. The Head of the Department added that "the verdict of the court is the crowning achievement of any criminal proceedings." He also expressed the opinion that the entry into force of court sentences against Ukrainian nationalists will have a preemptive character and carry the function of preventing the commission of new crimes by representatives of the fascist Kiev Regime.

At the end of his speech, the Head of the Department wished everyone professional success, as well as prompt and effective adaptation to the legal system of the Russian Federation. "Taking this opportunity, I want to express my deep admiration for the courage of Donbas. Since 2014, they have been trying to be broken, subdued, crushed and destroyed. We know this firsthand… My deep bow to you all, to your countrymen, your relatives, and your loved ones for having endured all that," Mr. Alexander Ivanovich added.
