The Maritime Territory authorities of the Investigative Committee have charged the head of Gornozavodsk District Aleksandr Afanasyev, 44 with a crime under Part 2 of Article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of powers, committed by the head of a local government).

According to the investigation, in November 2014, Afanasyev aware that the list and cost of work under a municipal contract for the repairs of the District Recreation Center do not match to the work actually done, still signed false acceptance certificates. As a result more than 11 million rubles was transferred to the bank account of the contractor.

Afanasyev is going to be dismissed. Procedural activities are underway to finish the investigation. After the accused has read the case and the indictment has been approved, the case is going to be sent to court.

It should be noted that investigation into official maleficence is one of the priorities of the investigative directorate, as such crimes pose higher public danger and violate the rights of citizens.
