In Tyumen Region, probe finished against 6 people charged with organizing prostitution of minors

The Tyumen Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished the investigation against 6 people with a woman among them, over organization of prostitution involving minors. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under Part 2, item “c” of Article 241 of the RF Penal Code (organization of prostitution and maintaining of houses of prostitution involving minors), Part 3 of Article 240 (involving of minors into prostitution), Part 1 of Article 158 (larceny), Part 1 of Article 134 (sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years of age), Part 2 of Article 158 (larceny entailing material damage to the citizen).

According to investigators, in September 2014, a resident of the city of Tyumen decided to get money from organizing prostitution. In October of the same year the accused wanted to expand the business and set up an organized criminal group to which she in different periods of time involved 6 men as bodyguards and drivers. The woman looked for girls in social networks who agreed to provide escort services under her control and give her part of the money they got from their clients. The investigators found out that there were at least 8 girls working for the woman, including one aged 13, and others 14, 15 and 16. In spring 2015, two of the bodyguards and drivers felt that they had enough experience in the business, left the gang, set up their own group and won some of the girls over. Later they found some more girls. At least 8 prostitutes, including 5 underage ones were working on the pimps. The activity of the first gang was broken up by the organized crime department of the criminal detection office of the Tyumen Region Office of the Interior Ministry in June 2015 and of the other one in November 2015.

During the investigation the underage victims underwent forensic psychiatric evaluations. Over 40 witnesses who had essential information were identified and questioned.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment has been referred to court.
