The Irkutsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in abuse of animals under Part 1 of Article 245 of the RF Penal Code.

It has been revealed that on 3 January 2017, a man killed a dog by hitting it on the ground and then kicking twice on the head on the premises of a petrol station in the town of Shelekhov.

The suspect is a 45-year-old resident of the settlement of Bolahoi Lug, Shelekhov District.

According to the RF penal Code, abuse of animals is punished by a fine of up to 80 thousand rubles or compulsory works for up to 60 hours, or penitentiary works for up to 1 year, or confinement for up to 1 year, or arrest for up to 6 months.
