Check launched in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District into air crash of An-2 with passengers aboard

Today at 12:11 during a take-off from the runway of former military unit Yugorsk-2 an An-2 plane owned by aviaclub Maestro crashed due to defects in the operations of engines. There were 10 people, including 8 passengers, aboard the plane. Investigating bodies of the Urals transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigative check into the incident.

According to preliminary data the plane took off for parachute jumping. At the height of 100 meters due to defects in operation of the engine the pilot made a decision to land the plane. After the U-turn the plane crashed and caught fire. 8 people were delivered to Yugorsky central district hospital with different injuries.

At present investigators and criminologists of the Urals transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have set off for the crash scene. Operations are underway to establish all circumstances of the accident. A procedural decision will be made after the check.
