Inspector of Kamchatka Territory Federal Service for Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management to appear in court for corruption

Kamchatka Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have completed investigating a criminal case against an inspector of Kamchatka Territory inspectorate of Federal Service for Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management charged with a crime under paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribe-taking on an especially large scale) and a businessman charged with a crime under paragraph “b” of part 3 of article 291.1 (intermediary in bribery on an especially large scale) and part 1 of article 159 of the RF Criminal Code (swindling).

According to investigators, in September 2011, a representative of OAO Koryakgeoldobycha (OJSC) requested Kamchatka Territory inspectorate of Federal Service for Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management to conduct a state technical inspection of 85 units of equipment. The state inspector for inspection and issuance of reconciliation reports suggested through an intermediary that a representative of OAO Koryakgeoldobycha should give a bribe. In January 2012, the state inspectorate through an intermediary received 60 thousand rubles as a part of the bribe the rest 94 thousand rubles the intermediary left to himself. In May 2012, the intermediary was detained by law enforcement agents while receiving the second part of the bribe – 160 thousand rubles.

Investigators have collected enough evidence and the case was forwarded to the prosecutor for the indictment to be approved and then to court to be tried on the merits.
