Former imam killed in Dagestan

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation into signs of crimes under part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a” and “g” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted murder of two or more people committed by a group of persons), part 1 of article 105 (murder) and part 2 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms by a group of people).

On 3 August 2013, about 10 PM, unknown people fired from pistols into 66-year-old Ilyasgadzhi Abdulayevich Ilyasov and his driver Shamil Akhmedov sitting in the car in Khizroyev Street. Ilyasov was killed and Akhmedov hospitalized with gun wounds. At the moment of the crime Ilyasov was unemployed, in 2008 he was imam in one of the local mosques, and then he had got threatened over his religious activity.

At present measures are taken to find the persons who committed the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
